Pulsed-Supplied Water Electrolysis via Two-Switch Converter for PV Capacity Firming

Hydrogen constitutes the only carbon-free fuel that can be used for energy conversion, producing water as by-product. With being one of most abundant and inexhaustible raw materials in world, required electricity input provided by renewable resources, produced hydrogen via electrolysis a green pathway towards sustainability. In this work, hybrid PV power-to-hydrogen, storage cell system is proposed to satisfy domestic load residential building. Identifying alkaline mandatory technology, performance cells assessed considering inclusion two-switch buck-boost converter. Following comprehensive formulation with respect each distinguished component, balance condition at DC AC buses determined. The configuration evaluated, taking into account systems different ratings, namely 3 kW, 5 kW 7 kW. Based on actual data relating both generation year 2020, obtained results from annual simulations are compared feed-in tariff net-metering schemes. According results, capacity firming achieved, creating great opportunities autonomy enhancement, not electricity, but also other sectors.
